Thank you to everyone who has donated in honor of Dr. Stafford! We are amazed by the response to this campaign and are incredibly grateful for your support of MME student scholarships. As of 4/29/2022, there are two ties remaining for donors who make gifts of $100 or more.
Stephen and Karen Stafford have formally established an endowed scholarship for students in the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (MME) Program. Steve has been a professor at UTEP since 1976 and started his phased retirement from the department on December 31, 2020. Known for his outstanding teaching and mentoring of students, Steve Stafford has been a popular faculty member within the MME Program and within the College of Engineering, both for his teaching and the personal touch he adds to all his classes.
Steve and his wife want to continue to assist future students within the MME program on their path to achieving their educational goals and professional success. As a thank you for your donation, the Staffords will be sending one of Steve's unique ties to the first 100 donors who make gifts of $100 or more.
Over the years, Steve has accumulated quite a collection of designer ties that students have frequently admired. Due to his variety of stylish ties, he's been labeled a snappy dresser! Steve wanted to open this opportunity to increase the endowment and as a fun way to connect with alumni and friends.
Join us in celebrating Dr. Stafford’s 46 years of dedication to teaching and mentoring UTEP students by supporting the Dr. Steve and Karen Stafford Endowed Scholarship Fund.
When you make your gift, please consider submitting a message to Dr. Stafford. As a cherished member of our faculty, we want to make sure he knows what he has meant to the UTEP community.
