Thank you for your interest in supporting the Madeline Park Family Shakespear Festival. The family-friendly festival will be free and fun for all audience members, but we need your help to fund this project!
We reached our first goal of $1,800 for lighting, sound, costumes, and festival supplies, and now we are aiming for $2,500! The additional funds will cover the following—
If you are like many people, your associations with the word “Shakespeare” may not be pleasant. As a kid, maybe you were dragged to some endless production of Lear or Hamlet where you sat for hours vowing never to return. Don’t worry, you are not alone!
Shakespeare on the Rocks, in collaboration with the UTEP department of English and the Kern Place Association, is determined to change this paradigm for El Paso families, and we are asking for your support.
This September, join us under the stars in Madeline Park for a FREE and family-friendly adaptation of Shakespeare’s most romantic comedy! Uncomfortable seats will be replaced by blankets and lawn chairs; picnic baskets will supplant stuffy programs; and the four-hour run time will be compressed to a family friendly 75 minutes. In addition to the performance, we will offer a festival of family friendly activities and vendors before the production begins each night. Above all, our watchword will be FUN! Boring memories of Shakespeare will melt away and in their place we will grow family experiences filled with joy.
The Madeline Park Family Shakespeare Festival will run September 23, 24, 30 and October 1. The festival begins at 6 p.m. with a crafts fair and pre-show activities, followed by the live performance of As You Like It ending at 8 p.m. Bring a picnic blanket, lawn chair, snacks, and your sense of humor!
If the fundraising goal for this campaign is exceeded, additional donations will support other programs in the UTEP Department of English.
Every gift counts. Your donation of $25 will contribute enormously to the rental of microphones and amplification to support the entire cast!
Thank you! Your donation of $50 will contribute mightily to the renting of sanitary facilities to ensure that our guest have a clean and comfortable experience.
