Student Media and Publications editors of the UTEP Prospector and Minero Magazine have received the amazing opportunity to attend the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA) Convention in San Marcos, Texas where they will have the opportunity to grow in their profession outside of the local community and expand their network.
Attracting hundreds of students and faculty advisers each year, TIPA features over 40 workshops and presentations lead by advisers and media professionals from around the country. The convention also features 30 on-site live contests for the student journalists to showcase their skills under deadline situations and in practical-oriented situations.
An opportunity like this allows UTEP journalism students to seek solutions in the most challenging publishing and broadcasting problems. They will learn about current industry obstacles and trends in the media marketplace, share success stories, and network with students and advisers from across the nation.
However, the talented 9-member Student Media and Publications group needs your support in off-setting some of the travel costs to get there, including registration, hotel and per diem expenses.

This professional development experience will further advance the program’s mission of informing our community and engaging them on campus.
