Social Work Scholarship Fund

Thank you for your support! So far, we've raised $1,750 for Social Work student scholarships.

Join SWAN in supporting social work scholarships for UTEP students!

The purpose of the Social Work Scholarship Fund is to financially assist social work students in obtaining their state license, aiding in paying for tuition/textbooks, and in supporting students for graduation expenses. Our goal is to support students in need who are academically deserving and have served the community in a volunteer capacity.

As former graduates of the Social Work program we fully understand the financial burden that social work students carry. All social work student must complete 480 hours of internship at a local non-profit in the El Paso Community. This, along with their academic and family obligations, can make completing a Social Work degree difficult for students with little to no financial support.

The Social Work Alumni Network wishes to humbly thank everyone for donating to the Social Work Scholarship Fund. Many of the social work students you are supporting will soon be working in the El Paso community assisting at-risk community members, families, and children.

Our hope is that to provide some financial relief to students who are deserving and in need. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. rightly stated, “Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education.”

The Social Work Alumni Network (SWAN) serves as a bridge between the University of Texas El Paso Department of Social Work, the professional social work community, and our bi-national community at large by providing recognition of alumni and student excellence, promoting professional networking and development opportunities, advocating for marginalized populations, developing fundraising opportunities for under-served community members, and ensuring the continued distinction of the school. The University of Texas El Paso Department of Social Work graduates outstanding students every year. Our alumni change the world, mentor the next generation of leaders, and embody what it means to be a social worker in the 21st Century.
